What is Casabase Cube?
Casabase Cube is a modern, cloud-native OLAP engine built natively on Snowflake. It delivers multidimensional analytics without the separate OLAP servers, precomputed aggregate structures, and operational complexity associated with traditional cube platforms.
Designed as a modern alternative to legacy OLAP platforms such as Oracle Essbase and Microsoft Analysis Services, Casabase Cube enables organizations to model, calculate, and query complex business data within Snowflake while taking advantage of Snowflake’s compute, security, governance, and scalability.
Multidimensional Analytics in Snowflake
Section titled “Multidimensional Analytics in Snowflake”Casabase Cube brings familiar OLAP concepts to Snowflake, including:
- Cubes that organize business data for multidimensional analysis
- Dimensions and hierarchies that represent business structures such as accounts, entities, products, scenarios, and time
- Dynamic aggregation across multidimensional hierarchies
- Formulas and calculated members for business calculations and KPIs
- Flexible hierarchies including ragged, unbalanced, and shared-member structures
- Multidimensional querying through visual and SQL-based interfaces
These capabilities allow organizations to model complex business structures while keeping cube storage and analytical processing within the customer’s Snowflake environment.
Dynamic, Query-Time Processing
Section titled “Dynamic, Query-Time Processing”Casabase Cube does not require parent-level aggregates to be precomputed and stored.
Bottom-level cube data is stored within the Casabase Cube Native Application database. When a multidimensional query is executed, Casabase Cube dynamically applies the cube’s hierarchy structures, aggregation rules, formulas, calculation behavior, and security to produce the requested result.
This means:
- Parent values do not need to be stored as precomputed aggregates.
- Calculated members are evaluated dynamically.
- New bottom-level data is available to queries without a separate aggregation or cube-processing step.
- Changes to hierarchy or formula metadata can be reflected in subsequent queries after the applicable metadata has been rebuilt or updated.
The result is a flexible, scalable calculation engine that grows with your business and analytic needs.
Built Natively on Snowflake
Section titled “Built Natively on Snowflake”Casabase Cube is delivered as a Snowflake Native App and operates within the customer’s Snowflake environment.
Cube data, metadata, hierarchy structures, and application configuration are managed within the Native Application database. Query processing, hierarchy processing, formula evaluation, and other application operations use Snowflake compute.
There is no separate Casabase Software-hosted OLAP server or external query-processing service to which customer cube data must be transferred for Casabase Cube processing.
To learn more, see Why a Snowflake Native Application? and High-Level Architecture.
Migrate Existing OLAP Applications
Section titled “Migrate Existing OLAP Applications”Casabase Cube provides migration capabilities for organizations currently using Oracle Essbase or Oracle Cloud EPM.
Existing application structures, including dimensions, hierarchies, aliases, supported formulas, and member properties, can be imported from the native Essbase outline (.otl) file. Native level-0 exports can be used to load existing application data.
Not every Essbase or Cloud EPM behavior has a direct Casabase Cube equivalent. Review Compatibility Notes when evaluating or performing a migration.
See Oracle Essbase & Cloud EPM Migration for migration guidance.
Query and Analyze
Section titled “Query and Analyze”Casabase Cube provides multiple ways to work with cube data.
The visual Query Builder allows users to select dimensions and members, navigate hierarchies, and execute multidimensional queries interactively.
Programmatic multidimensional queries use CUBE.QUERY_CUBE, which applies the cube’s hierarchy aggregation, formulas, calculation behavior, and configured row-level security.
Casabase Cube also exposes supported secure relational views for direct SQL access to bottom-level cube data and dimension metadata.
This gives organizations both:

Integrate with Snowflake-Connected Tools
Section titled “Integrate with Snowflake-Connected Tools”Because Casabase Cube is accessed through Snowflake, applications and analytics tools can use standard Snowflake connectivity rather than a proprietary external Casabase Cube API.
Supported integration patterns can include:
- Snowflake SQL
- Snowflake APIs, drivers, and connectors
- Business intelligence and visualization platforms
- Custom applications
- Data and analytics workflows
See Integration Points documentation for details.
AI-Powered Analytics
Section titled “AI-Powered Analytics”Casabase Cube can make governed multidimensional business models available through Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Agents.
This allows users to ask business questions using natural language while Casabase Cube remains responsible for evaluating governed cube results, including hierarchy aggregation, formulas, and configured security.
See Intelligence Overview for details.
Who is Casabase Cube For?
Section titled “Who is Casabase Cube For?”Casabase Cube is designed for organizations that need multidimensional analytics and business modeling within Snowflake, including:
- Organizations modernizing or replacing Oracle Essbase or Oracle Cloud EPM applications
- Finance and FP&A teams working with multidimensional business data
- Data and analytics teams that need governed business hierarchies and calculations
- Organizations that want OLAP capabilities without maintaining separate cube infrastructure
- Snowflake customers that want to make multidimensional business models available to BI, applications, and AI experiences
